An illegal Travellers’ encampment in Angus has dispersed under order.
The group of 30 or so caravans in Forfar, at the Orchardbank industrial estate, had been in town since the beginning of May.
A motion by joint landowners Angus Council and Hermiston Securities Ltd was granted to break up the encampment at Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday.
And around two-thirds of the camp had left by lunchtime the next day, with several remaining Travellers indicating they would leave later the same day.
There have been reports of fly tipping, dogs barking and noise from generators coming from the camp.
One dog walker, who asked not to be named, said she is looking forward to taking her pets back to the popular spot.
“It’s good to know the council have moved the encampment on,” she said.
