Angus girl Emma sheds her locks to help her friend

An Angus girl had her long locks chopped to help a special little friend hundreds of miles away.

Forfar youngster Emma McGregor, who is almost four, got her hair cut for the first time at Jackson Gray Hairdressers in Dundee as part of a charity effort that will support two important causes.

Emma then gave her cut hair to the Little Princess Trust, which uses real hair wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to cancer treatment.

But she has also already raised more than £850 for the Charlton Farm Children’s Hospice (CHSW), a North Somerset facility where her profoundly disabled friend, Logan, receives respite care as he battles life-limiting conditions, including cerebral palsy.

The hospice is a place where he and his family can go for a little rest a few nights a year and where he will be looked after when the time comes.

Emma’s mum Laura struck up an online friendship with Logan’s mum during their pregnancies in 2010, but unfortunately Logan’s premature birth led to serious brain injuries and a range of severe difficulties.

Laura said: “She thought it would be a nice idea to do it for the hospice that Logan goes to.”
