An Angus school that was hit by an explosion of raw sewage has opened as usual this morning. Pupils and staff at Carnoustie High School were up in arms on Thursday after a sewage pipe burst inside the school. Children complained of “gagging” as human waste ran down the walls. The decision was taken to allow children back into the school after their lunch hour while contractors from Robertson Group started to clean up. However Angus council was forced to bring in further specialist help from the firm and Tayside Contracts for a “deep clean” overnight. And pupils were asked to return to school as normal this morning. A local authority spokeswoman said: “Carnoustie High School is open as normal today. (There was a) full deep clean done overnight. “Thanks to everyone for their patience yesterday.”
