Police have confirmed that a 26-year-old man has died following an industrial accident in Montrose.
The man succumbed to his injuries after being trapped in machinery at Gemini Corrosion Services in Brent Avenue around 3.40pm on Wednesday.
Scotland’s charity air ambulance was scrambled along with the Tayside trauma team after the alarm was raised.
A spokeswoman today said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 26-year-old man has sadly died following an industrial accident at Gemini Corrosion Services, Brent Avenue, in Montrose yesterday afternoon.
“Police Scotland is working alongside the Health and Safety Executive to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
“As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
The plant remained closed today with a police officer remaining on duty in the factory grounds.
The Gemini flag flew at half mast.
Paramedics assisted the trauma team and the man was transferred by road in an ambulance under police escort.
Approach roads were blocked by police to allow the ambulance to negotiate the stretch unhindered as it made its way to Ninewells Hospital.
