A family-run Mearns firm could create more jobs with a factory expansion.
Duncan’s of Deeside has lodged plans to extend its Aberdeen Road premises at Laurencekirk Business Park, where it relocated to just over five years ago.
The shortbread and oatcakes producer hopes ten jobs could be added to the workforce as is seeks to meet growing demand from across the globe.
Owner Len Duncan said: “We produce hundreds of thousands of products each week.
“The firm has spent a lot of money on quality assurance and we are now ready to move onto the next stage and expand.
“We need more production and warehouse space to take on more business from buyers.
“The company is now ISS and BRC accredited which means we can provide more reassurance to companies especially international customers.
“We export to companies in America, Australia, China and of course around Europe.
If the extension is approved, the firm is looking to start building work before the end of the year.
Mr Duncan said: “We believe in our products and we have definitely outgrown the space we have currently.
Mr Duncan said: “Everything is in place except the planning permission so if that is okay we will look to start building as soon as possible.
“We would hope to have new jobs on the go later this year or by early January.”
