Chris OMara, left, and Michael Carlin receive their trophy from Gail Bogue. Following a hugely successful Relay for Life in Arbroath, there is still a month left for donations to be made. Relay chairman Ian Angus said he had run out of words to describe the community’s generosity after the weekend event raised almost £137,000. Money is still to come in and the book will be closed on October 20 with the final total announced shortly afterwards. Up until then people still have the chance to make a donation by going on the website or contacting a committee member. Mr Angus said: “The generosity of individuals and businesses has really taken us aback we just couldn’t have asked for more. “I’ve got a great team around me and we’ll all go off now and have a wee rest before we start planning for next year. “The committee worked its socks off to give a platform for our fundraisers to do their job. “In terms of hard cash this is a record-breaking year. We’re hopeful that the final total will be even higher.”
