Easthaven charity collection box targeted by thief
ByGraeme Strachan
A reward has been offered after a sick thief used bolt cutters to steal from a charity box in Angus.
The chain and cash box at the cycle path at Easthaven were deliberately removed and the residents’ association has put up a £100 reward.
The money box was placed on the coastal path by resident Morag Tindal and cyclists and walkers put in a donation in exchange for cold drinks and sweets.
The thief hacked through the metal chain to make off with a sum of money from the box which this year raised over £600 for Mary’s Meals.
It was secured by a chain following the theft of an honesty box earlier this year on the coastal path which attracts cyclists from across Europe.
Despite the money box being stolen again, Morag has told The Courier she is not deterred and will be back again next season.
