A BMW driver pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on the Brechin to Arbroath road in an incident which saw him smash into another car of the same make.
Offshore worker Dean Cargill, 28, of The Stables, Rosely, by Arbroath, appeared at Forfar on Wednesday where he admitted driving dangerously by attempting to overtake another car on the A934 on December 12, colliding with it and causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
A witness driving a Volkswagen van travelling towards Arbroath saw Cargill’s black BMW approaching in their rear view mirror at considerable speed before the accused pulled out and attempted to pass.
Cargill pulled into the face on the oncoming silver BMW and, although the other driver tried to take evasive action, a collision could not be avoided, the court heard.
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio imposed an interim disqualification on the accused and deferred sentence for reports to be obtained until October 23.
