ByThe Courier Reporter
A worker who died in an industrial accident has finally been named.
Andrew Fraser, 26, from Arbroath, died from injuries sustained while working at Gemini Corrosion Services in Montrose on Wednesday September 17.
Mr Fraser was employed as a semi-skilled worker at Gemini for more than a year and worked on a number of different operations at the firm.
He had previously worked at Morrisons.
Ian Guthrie, managing director of Gemini, said Mr Fraser’s colleagues were “absolutely devastated” by his death.
He said: “Andy was a really nice guy, who was popular with his workmates.
“I actually interviewed Andy myself and I was very impressed by him. He used to work in Morrisons and was looking for a career change.
“He came into the role and applied himself very well. His supervisors said if we had a few more workers like him we would be fine.”
The company, founded in 1982, was initially based at Stonehaven. In 2009, a site opened at Brent Avenue, Montrose, and the company recently secured the largest contract in its history.
A Health and Safety Executive investigation remains ongoing.
