An Angus couple are celebrating a milestone in their lives after climbing all 736 Grahams, Munros and Corbetts in Scotland.
Pensioners Sheila, 65, and Bill Simpson, 69, from Arbroath recently finished their list of all 223 Grahams, named after list compiler Fiona Graham.
The pair finished all 282 Munros in 2005 and 221 Corbetts four years ago.
Their chosen last summit was Meall a’Mhuic in Glen Lyon, Perthshire and the Simpsons were accompanied by members of the Friockheim and District Walkers’ Club.
Colin Sinclair, president of Forfar’s hillwalking club, said the recent achievement was made all the more impressive considering the couple have climbed more than 700 hills and mountains.
He said their pursuit of the Grahams was interrupted due to Bill having heart surgery but he quickly recovered within a few months and they carried on with their quest.
“Their walks involved many detours due to Sheila’s fear of cows,” he joked.
“This remarkable feat was made doubly so by the fact that all the Munros, Corbetts and Grahams were climbed by Sheila and Bill together, sometimes as a couple and sometimes with other groups.”
They are active members of both walking clubs.
Sheila and Bill are both now retired and they also enjoy cycling and Scottish country dancing. They also spend time with their four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In May this year, Sheila and Bill also completed the TGO Challenge, a walk from the west coast at Oban to the east coast at St Cyrus.
