An Aberdeenshire fish restaurant has been shortlisted for a top nationwide award.
Hornblowers in Gourdon, which specialises in local seasonal food with an emphasis on seafood, is a North East and Tayside finalist in the Best Informal Eating Experience for the Scottish Thistle Awards.
Owners Alex and Ruth Grahame said they were delighted with the nomination. Alex said: “This is the first time we’ve entered these awards and to be shortlisted for the final is so exciting.
“It’s such a great accolade for all our staff and suppliers, as they all make the restaurant a welcoming haven with our locally-sourced seasonal food.
“We are proud advocates of the fantastic bounty of fresh produce available locally and are more than delighted to tell customers where we source our ingredients. Our fresh fish comes from the fishermen at Gourdon or Peterhead so your fish is literally the catch of the day.”
The awards have had a record number of applications this year.
The North East and Tayside regional final is to be hosted by TV presenter and journalist Stephen Jardine on November 11.
