Sauze dOlux ski resort, could be twinned with Edzell.
Edzell could be twinned with an Italian ski resort if a new proposal put forward by local councillor Bob Myles proves successful.
The Angus village might be joined with Sauze d’Olux, close to the French border in the Italian alps, if there is enough local support.
It was suggested to Mr Myles by the mayor of Sauze d’Olux, who spends his holidays in Angus.
My Myles, who raised the idea at a meeting of Inveresk Community Council, explained: “He comes over very regularly and he is very keen to progress with the twinning.
“He loves it in Scotland and we thought why not make it a twinning relationship?
“I’ve done some sounds round Edzell which suggest people are keen for it to happen.
“I would like to get an open meeting arranged where we could get views on the twinning and form a committee from there,” he said.
The idea has been discussed by the Edzell Village Improvement Society as well as the community council.
Sauze d’Olux is one of five ski resorts in the Via Lattea, or Milky Way ski area, popular with British skiers, 60 miles from Turin.
