Arbroath’s $12 million NFL star Graham Gano has proved he has the recipe for success by launching his own sandwich.
The 27-year-old has joined forces with Carolina Panthers team-mates JJ Jansen and Brad Nortman to create a personally-signed signature sub sandwich.
Gano told fans the sandwich, named the Specialist, is the “must-have meal for lunch” when it was officially launched at Morrocroft Village Harris Teeter in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Costing $3.99, the Specialist features roasted turkey and BBQ chicken topped with white American cheese, lettuce, tomato, BBQ sauce and ranch dressing on a kaiser roll. It will be sold in 231 Harris Tweeter stores across eight states.
Kicker Gano, who was born in Arbroath, became the first free agent to re-sign with the Panthers when he agreed to a four-year contract.

By dint of his father’s posting to Courier Country as a US Navy master chief petty officer, Gano has Arbroath on his birth certificate from his arrival in the town on April 9 1987.
It makes him the only Scot in the National Football League (NFL) and one of the country’s richest sports stars albeit one of the least well known on home soil.
“My Scottish roots are very important to me,” said Gano, a married father of two. “It’s an honour to be one of the few Scots to play in the league.”
Gano started out playing football as his father’s military career took the family from Courier Country to Germany, Canada and Florida. He took up American Football in high school and went through Florida State University before joining the Baltimore Ravens in 2009 as an undrafted free agent.
Gano has also played for the Las Vegas Locomotives and the Washington Redskins, where he hit their longest field goal at 59 yards in 2011.
On February 28 2014 it was announced Gano had signed a new four-year contract with the Panthers worth $12.4m.
Gano said: “I’ve seen some of the worst early on in my career in the NFL, having losing seasons and what not. There were great guys in Washington, but we had some rough times. I’ve never seen the type of camaraderie like I’ve had here, from high school to college to the NFL. Hopefully we can keep that going.”
