An Angus angel will again awaken the spirit of Christmas in Arbroath this year.
For the second year running, Arbroath mum Kerry Swankie will give up spending Christmas Day with her family to cook lunch for people who would otherwise be alone.
The mum-of-two organised a lunch last year and was left overwhelmed by the response from the community.
The level of donations meant everyone who attended also got a shopping voucher and hot meals were handed out later at a homeless unit.
Now she plans to put on dinner again at the CAFE Project in Arbroath and is hoping to feed even more mouths.
“Last year was amazing and the support we received was phenomenal,” she told The Courier.
“We had 20 people for dinner but we could probably cater for double that number if everything goes to plan.
“I’m still working on volunteers but so far I have five confirmed for the day.”
The lunch will see hot food served up and give people a chance to spend some time with others and have a chat.
Kerry, 39, Prince’s Trust team leader at Dundee and Angus College, was inspired to organise last year’s event by a colleague who had taken on a similar challenge.
She used Facebook to ask for advice on where to hold the lunch and for help pulling the many strings of her plans together.
“The donations of food and money also allowed us to give everyone a shopping voucher,” said Kerry.
“We were able to take meals up to the homeless unit and the CAFE Project also received a three-figure sum from the donations given.
“So many people wanted to give up their time to help out that we could have ended up with more volunteers than guests.
“It was such a great feeling to be able to be involved in something like this and it was a really good day.
“Everyone who attended had a good laugh and chat. For some people who don’t have anyone else, it was their only chance to have a Christmas meal with others.
“It was an easy decision to do it again this year. I would have felt bad if I hadn’t.”
