Arbroath man dies after collapsing in Brothock Burn

A man who died after falling into a river in Arbroath has today been named by police.

Dennis Willox, who was 64, died on route to hospital after taking ill while paddling in the Brothock Burn near the St Vigeans nature trail in Arbroath on Tuesday evening.

The emergency services were called at around 8.30pm.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Mr Willox, who stayed in the town’s Gardner Lane, died on the way to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
