Angus farm shop owners show they will not be beaten by thieves
ByRichard Watt
The owners of a farm shop have said they are not going to let thieves beat them after it was hit by crime twice in two months.
Tillygloom Farm, near Brechin, lost its safe to criminals last week and John and Fiona Watson have said they are “not going to let them win”. Money was also taken from the shop when the couple went on holiday.
Mr Watson said: “We had a robbery about seven weeks ago and again on Friday.
“It is money that they are mostly going for.”
Mrs Watson said: “On Friday night we decided to go out for tea. We were away for two hours at the most. We had a safe that was attached to the wall.”
Mr Watson said: “They drilled that back off where the safe was attached to the wall and they were able to prise the safe off the wall. We will have to install surveillance now but it is business as usual.”
The farm shop is open daily from 8am to 6pm.
