A repair needed to Thomas the Tank Engine is back on track thanks to a donation by Angus Council.
Brechin Caledonian Railway raised £65,000 of the £75,000 needed to repair the firebox of the popular tourist attraction but requested help from the Brechin common good fund for the final chunk of funds.
The council’s policy and resources committee gave the green light for this funding to take place.
Prior to the meeting Caledonian Railway’s engineering director Steve Pegg stated that Thomas was one of its biggest earners so it was vital it was up and running for the forthcoming season.
Brechin councillor Bob Myles said he was pleased the funding was agreed by the committee.
“The Caledonian Railway has done a tremendous amount of work to bring tourists into Angus,” he said.
