A fast-food business that closed in mysterious circumstances last month has gone on the market.

The Scottish Business Centre has listed the former Bombdiggity’s in Forfar as up for sale, inviting offers of £35,000.

The shop on Craig O’Loch Road opened with a fanfare at the tail end of last year, after being supported by a publicly-funded loan.

Residents were queuing out the door when the chicken and pizza restaurant opened only to close with a coat of whitewash in the windows and an online notice of closure.

Sellers note the shop as a “highly impressive fast-food outlet boasting prime roadside position”.

The start-up was the first in Angus to benefit from a loan under the East of Scotland Investment Fund (ESIF).

Pizza Plus (Forfar) Ltd received an undisclosed sum to assist with the set-up of its new business. Owner Scott Grieve fitted out the new premises on the former site of Angus County Press.

A loans officer for the ESIF said the public body always look for full repayment plus interest, much like a normal bank.
