In a first for Brechin, building work has begun on the Crazy Castle at Clerk Street, on the former McConechy’s site. A play castle and caf will adjoin an area where children can make their own teddy bears. Owner Lisa Spalding said the town needs “somewhere for parents to go.” She said: “We hope to open the centre at the beginning of May. The site had been closed for a few years and was sitting derelict. “The development is going really well. Brechin needs somewhere for parents to go. There isn’t a lot for children to do in Brechin.” A former nursery worker, Mrs Spalding came up with the idea with her husband Craig after the birth of their daughter Amber Rose. She said she also hopes to hold music classes for nursery children. “Having something like this next to the High Street means it is much easier for parents to travel to the play centre,” she added.
