An Angus man is to stand trial accused of causing the death of a nine-year-old boy in a road collision.
Blair Fearn is accused of causing the death of Anthony Healy in Westhill, Aberdeenshire.
The 26-year-old adhered to a plea of not guilty to a charge of death by careless driving when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
He allegedly drove a van “without reasonable care or attention” on July 20 2012.
Fearn is accused of failing to check that there were no pedestrians or other road users on the road behind him before reversing.
It is also alleged Fearn, of Trinity, by Brechin, reversed the van at an “inappropriate speed” before striking Anthony, leaving him so severely injured that he died.
The trial, before Sheriff Annella Cowan, begins later this month.
