Angus primary schools have been hit by the scarlet fever outbreak sweeping the country.
Two primaries in the county have been struck by the illness, which is extremely contagious and has already been found in six Dundee schools.
Angus Council confirmed the education department had sent letters to parents warning them to be vigilant for symptoms after pupils contracted scarlet fever in two Carnoustie schools.
There have been three cases reported between Burnside Primary on Thomas Street and Woodlands Primary on Queen Street.
Angus Council’s vice-convener for children and learning, Lynne Devine, said: “Parents should follow what has been advised to avoid it spreading.”
A spokesman for Angus Council said a letter had been sent to parents advising them to contact a health professional if they noticed any symptoms.
The UK is seeing the largest number of cases of scarlet fever in 24 years. The disease is most common among children aged between the ages of two and eight.
