Police remain on the hunt for a suspected “intruder” who entered Dundee and Angus College in Arbroath on Wednesday and assaulted a student.
A major police response was sparked following initial reports of a stabbing at the Keptie Road Campus at around 5pm.
Police and ambulance crews arrived on scene at the same time but medical staff were stood down after police confirmed the attack was an assault with minor injuries.
Sources have confirmed that the incident took place outside the Esk Building of the Arbroath campus and the college’s principal, Christina Potter, has today praised the quick actions of her staff in alerting the police following the “unusual” situation.
She told The Courier: “I would like to praise the quick thinking and effective action of our staff during yesterday’s incident involving an intruder on the college’s Arbroath campus.
“I’m proud of the way this most unusual and unexpected situation was dealt with calmly and with particular attention to the overall safety of all concerned.”
Police Scotland said a 19-year-old woman had been detained in connection with the incident and they continued to follow a positive line of enquiry.
