Small scale could bring big bucks from vintage vehicle enthusiasts at a Tayside auction.

A tiny tractor and mini traction engine are among the items generating major interest for Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club’s first sale of the year at their base near Glamis.

Several hundred lots, including cars, motorcycles and a beautifully restored 1930s Austin 10 delivery van from Fife will go under the hammer, but some of the keenest bidding is expected around a “wee grey Fergie”.

The Chad Valley toy tractor is said to have been only available to purchasers of the real thing in the 1950s and the club is hopeful its rarity will bring in bids of hundreds of pounds.

Several thousand pounds could be paid out for a Ruston traction engine in four-inch scale, a perfect working model of the type of machine once produced by a Lincoln firm set up in the 1850s.

The auction also features five working stationary engines dating from the 1930s from the collection of Kirriemuir enthusiast, the late Thomas Bennet,

Full-scale vintage lots include the 1933 Austin 10 van, bearing the signwritingof J S Brown Carrier, Cupar, and a restored 1960 Morris Minor which has spent its life in Angus and covered only 63,000 miles since it rolled off the production line.
