Emergency services rushed to a house fire in Angus on Friday afternoon.
A house at Oathlaw, near Tannadice, was evacuated after fire broke out in the roofspace.
Thick white smoke spread from the fire, as insulation materials caught light. Flames could also be seen at the peak of the blaze.
Fire crews were alerted at around 12.12pm.
Two fire engines from Forfar and Kirriemuir were in attendance from 12.35pm, and fire chiefs requested a third appliance from Kirriemuir station.
A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue’s Dundee control room said: “We were called out at 12.12pm after a woman phoned in with reports of a fire in her roofspace.”
The blaze was fully extinguished just after 2pm, leaving the roof of the newly-completed house extensively damaged.
There was also considerable smoke and water damage to the interior.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of the blaze but it is understood heat from the chimney of a wood-burning stove may have ignited combustible materials in the roofspace.
The outbreak prompted a warning from a senior Scottish Fire and Rescue Service officer for householders to ensure that they have properly working smoke detectors and to take up the opportunity of a free home fire safety visit.
