For those about to jump AC/DC lookalikes to abseil down viaduct for Kirriemuir statue fundraiser

Lots of rock legend-lookalikes could be launching themselves off the side of a railway bridge this summer if a group’s dream comes true.
DD8 Music, the group behind fundraising for a statue of Bon Scott in Kirriemuir, is organising an abseil with an AC/DC theme.
It is now looking for 100 hard rock fans to dress up in their school uniforms like the band’s guitarist Angus Young when they jump from a railway viaduct in St Cyrus on June 14.
The group hopes to unveil the statue of Kirriemuir’s favourite musical son next year and is still in the process of raising funds.
The sculpture will be made by artist John McKenna and erected for next year’s Bonfest, the town’s yearly tribute to AC/DC’s 40-year career.
It will stand next to the statue of Peter Pan which honours another of Kirriemuir’s famous sons, JM Barrie.
The meeting point for the abseil will be the Black Abbot pub in Montrose, where there will be live music and food supplied as people are shuttled to and from the viaduct.
People aged 10 and over are able to take part and registration details are available at www.dd8music.com.
