A man has died following a road traffic incident in north Angus near Kirriemuir.
The A926 was closed southbound from the town while police deal with the incident, which happened around 10.10am near Checkiefield and the Ballinshoe junction.
Officers would only confirm a vehicle and cyclist were involved, and it understood the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Tayside Division spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers are making enquiries into a serious road traffic collision on the A926 at Padanaram to Maryton Road that happened at about 10.10am this morning.
“The cyclist had serious injuries and was not taken to hospital.”
Travellers between Forfar and Kirriemuir have been advised to use the A94 via Glamis or the Forestmuir/Old Brechin Road.
Road accident investigators have been at the scene for some hours, and a blue tent was placed over the man’s body near a road bike.
A white van with a cracked windscreen remained close by.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service would only confirm they were called to the scene.
