Travellers parked next to Angus Council’s headquarters ‘monitored’

Angus Council is continuing to “monitor” a Traveller encampment right on the doorstep of its headquarters.
Residents near the A94 Glamis roundabout have spent months complaining about caravans which have come and gone with regularity.
It is understood the council, based across the A90 in Orchardbank Business Park, has not taken any enforcement action as the site is on jointly-owned land.
However complaints over taking up road space and bin collection are being investigated.
An Angus Council spokeswoman confirmed the council is “monitoring the encampment in Forfar”.
Occupancy at the site has varied between three and eight caravans over some months.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I understand the land is split between three parties, two of which are Angus Council and the roads department.
“These people have erected a windbreaker which I believe they are using as a toilet. I’m sure you wouldn’t like to see that in your neighbourhood.
“The council supply them with black bags for other waste which they pile up for the council to come and collect. What would happen if I left my rubbish at the roadside?”
