A serious blaze ripped apart a farm cottage in Kirriemuir on Wednesday night.
Fire ighters said more than 50% of Chapleton Farm Cottage, just off the B955, was destroyed after a massive fire took hold in the property.
Four crews two from Kirriemuir and two from Forfar spent the best part of two hours tackling the fire, which broke through the roof of the property and ravaged its interior.
No one was harmed in the blaze but a spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the damage was extensive.
She said: “We were called to a report of a fire in a single-storey cottage at around 6pm at Chapletone Farm near Kirriemuir.
“No one was in the property at the time and four appliances attended. Two breathing apparatus were initially used but firefighters were withdrawn from inside after flames broke through the roof.
“The property has been set to raze as more than 50% has been destroyed.”
The flames were eventually extinguished by around 8pm and officers spent time pulling down the ceiling and checking for existing heat or residual flames in the timber.
