The cost of Angus councillors has crept up over the past year.
In a report going before Thursday afternoon’s meeting of the council, allowances and expenses outlay of more than £627,000 will be revealed.
The figure is a slight increase from last year’s £615,000, but is still lower than the £630,000 from 2011 to 2012. Councillor wages totalled £558,044 and expenses, including mileage and other allowances, came to £69,672.
The figures were announced in an annual report to members from strategic director of resources Mark Armstrong.
Leader of the council, Iain Gaul, received the highest remuneration at £32,795, with Angus Provost Helen Oswald and depute leader of the council and vice-convener of policy and resources Paul Valentine taking in £24,596 each.
The provost had the highest expenses claim at £13,182, incurred largely due to the increased travel expectations of her civic duties.
Depute provost Alex King claimed £5,612 of expenses, which was also largely accrued through mileage expenses in his civic role.
