A happy couple and their family were surprised to see flashing blue lights during their white wedding.
Fire crews gathered after the wedding reception of Barry and Suzanne Davidson was interrupted by sirens as guests enjoyed the dessert course of their afternoon meal.
With family and friends huddled in their coats and blankets outside Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen, Barry, 29, from Brechin, and Suzanne, from Newtonhill, took the incident in their stride and Forfar photographer John Whyte snapped the bridal party as they made the best of it.
It is thought the alarm was triggered by smoke but no blaze was found, so firemen were happy to pose with the family.
“We’d had our meal and the alarm had gone off,” said Suzanne, 26. “We’d all gone outside and the hotel checked things over and couldn’t find where it was coming from, so they had to get the fire brigade in.
“And, of course, you can’t have the fire brigade at your wedding without taking pictures of them.
“The hotel brought out blankets and everything luckily the rain stayed off and we were out there for half an hour.
“It was made into a big laugh and we thought it was always going to be me that got firies at our wedding.”
For Suzanne’s three-year-old son, Barry, the surprise guests were a real highlight.
“He’s firemen daft. When they left he said, ‘Thank you very much, mum this is the best wedding ever’.”
Thankfully for barber Suzanne and fencer Barry, the rest of the day went as planned.
Mr Whyte said the emergency services were quite happy to play their part in the celebrations and the snaps will make a great addition to the Davidson wedding album.
He said: “Suzanne’s son was happy to sacrifice his dessert just to get a shot with the fireman’s hat and a pose in his future career.”
