The countdown is on to another weekend of live music as Forfar prepares to welcome bands and fans from across Scotland.
Hot on the heels of last weekend’s MoFest in Montrose, ForfarFest will stage around 80 gigs at a number of venues across the town from Friday.
Started three years ago by members of the Forfar Pub Watch scheme, ForfarFest is fast becoming a big date on the county’s live events music calendar.
“Numerous live bands will be playing in venues throughout the town, including the Masons, the Plough, Chapter and Verse, Bar Central, Troopers, Old Reid Park Bar, Club One, the Thistle, Queen Street Tavern, the Legion and Foresters restaurant,” said a festival spokesman.
“A wide variety of music will be on offer, including R&B, blues, indie rock, traditional Scottish and Celtic rock.
“We’re confident that there will be something for everyone, but the event is getting bigger every year and we are already planning to set up an organising committee for 2015 to coordinate everything and ensure we can attract the best musicians from throughout the county,” the spokesman added.
“We’re also planning to work with the local authorities to look at the possibility of putting the infrastructure in place to organise an outdoor event, the same as MoFest.
“ForfarFest kicks off tomorrow with a number of bands playing throughout the town, and will move into full swing on Saturday when almost every licensed premises will be putting on one or more gigs.”
