ByThe Courier Reporter
Montrose Music Festival chairman David Paton has been named as the town’s citizen of the year.
The accolade tops off what has been a fantastic few weeks for Mr Paton following the huge success of this year’s MoFest.
Mr Paton was part of the organising committee which made the 7th MoFest the best yet with headliners Status Quo kicking off the weekend festival in style.
As well as his work with MoFest, Mr Paton has also been the inspiration behind the project to turn the town’s former swimming pool into a cinema.
Mr Paton said he was extremely “flattered” to have won this year’s citizen of the year award.
He said he was “well chuffed” and receiving the phone call to say he had won was “very unexpected.”
Anne Jenkins from the MoFest committee added: “It’s fantastic news. He thoroughly deserves it.”
Well-wishers took to social media to congratulate him shortly after.
