The volunteering efforts of more than 150 students at Dundee & Angus College were recognised at a ceremony in Arbroath.
The event has been running annually at Arbroath for eight years and this is the first time the awards have encompassed students from all three D&A College campuses.
Volunteering is seen as an important element of student engagement, developing them as active citizens and improving their employment prospects.
Wednesday’s ceremony at the Keptie Road campus encompassed volunteer activity, both in college and within the students’ own communities.
Depute principal Grant Ritchie presented each nominated student with a certificate at the ceremony and this year saw 162 students put forward for recognition, including 77 individuals and 85 groups.
Among the winners from the Arbroath campus were community gold award-winner Susan Simpson, from Arbroath, who undertook volunteer work with HM Coastguard while studying for Highers at the Arbroath campus and Liam Black, from Friockheim, who received the learner engagement gold award after working on various projects throughout the year to enhance student life.
A pair of HND sport development and coaching students from Arbroath campus won the joint individual gold award Michael Taylor, from Arbroath, and Forfarian Jo McKenzie volunteered in the college nursery.
From the Gardyne campus in Dundee, individual gold-award winner Claire Keenlyside, from Cupar, volunteered in the college library while studying HNC administration and IT.
