It has been confirmed that Montrose Infirmary will open again on Monday just over seven weeks after being forced to close.
The infirmary on Bridge Street had been temporarily closed since April 24 due to the failure of the heating and water systems and soot-like material which was blown through the hospital’s air filter system.
The midwives will be back in the infirmary building on Monday and will be offering ante and post-natal clinics back at Montrose from Monday afternoon.
Dr Margaret McGuire, nurse director, said: “We are reopening the Community Maternity Unit at Montrose next week with the midwives returning to the site on Monday.
“The team will start re-commissioning the unit on Monday, moving equipment back from the Links Health Centre and setting up the unit to welcome women back.”
She continued: “I would like to take the opportunity to thank local women for their support and cooperation during the temporary closure.
“I am very pleased to say that ante-natal and post-natal maternity services will be provided in Montrose Infirmary from the afternoon on Monday, 16 June.”
