Emergency services flooded the town after reports a 14-year-old was hit by a passing train. The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed its attendance and the teenager has been taken to Ninewells Hospital for checks. Accident investigators remain on the scene. Scottish Fire and Rescue sent at least three fire crews to help in the emergency, which forced the line to close for two hours. The train came to a stop near the golf course after the incident, which reportedly happened around 8.40am. The 7.27 Glasgow to Aberdeen service was also delayed and the rail line was reopened at around 10.55am. A spokesman for British Transport Police, which has jurisdiction over incidents on railways, confirmed a teenage girl was treated at the scene. For more, see Tuesday’s Courier.
