An Angus community has taken part in an emotional balloon release in support of a local girl found unconscious during a family holiday to Spain.
Arbroath girl Cally Simpson was found on Tuesday at the bottom of a swimming pool in the resort of Salou, where she was on holiday with her dad Steven and gran Wendy.
Friends, family and supporters gathered at Victoria Park in the town to release balloons marked with messages of support for the four-year-old, while a bucket collection was conducted in Gayfield during the Aberdeen v Arbroath football friendly.
Steven wrote on the Facebook page Saving Cally Simpson: “Her brain is starting to respond to tests but she could possibly wake up and not know who we are or not be able to walk or talk due to the lack of oxygen (during the pool incident).
“It’s very difficult to get someone who speaks good English and explain everything properly to us.”
