A flash storm caused flooding in parts of Angus, with Arbroath appearing to be the worst hit. The heavens opened on Tuesday morning and the torrent was unrelenting, leaving many roads struggling to cope. Flooding was reported at the roundabout at Burnside Drive, Chalmers Street and Union Street in Arbroath around lunchtime. Luckily the nearby homes just escaped being hit by the flooding which also made conditions difficult on Brothock Bridge. The Westway Retail Park was also affected by the deluge with water coming through the roof of the B&Q store. Staff were forced to mop up and put down wet floor signs with some stock also getting a soaking. The KFC drive-through was also forced to close. The water caused problems with the electricity. Thunder and lightning was also reported in Forfar as the showers made their way further north during the day. The sun was soon out after lunchtime, however, which helped with the dry-up.
