Youngsters warned climbing at Ashludie Hospital could end in tragedy
ByThe Courier Reporter
Reckless youths have been condemned for putting themselves at risk by climbing on to the roof of an empty Angus hospital.
The youngsters were spotted on the top of Ashludie in Monifieth and after Community PC Steve Wilson criticised their actions on social media councillors said they feared the antics could lead to tragedy.
Ashludie is on the market after being deemed surplus to requirements by NHS Tayside, who said that while there is round-the-clock security monitoring on the site and barriers to restrict vehicular access, the public can still walk through the grounds.
Councillor Craig Fotheringham said: “It’s happening quite often. I have had constituents mention it in conversation and these people have no right to be there.
“Think of the consequences if the roof caved it. It’s just wasting police time.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police remind individuals that reckless behaviour such as this is dangerous.”
