‘Business as usual’ at reopened Montrose Royal Infirmary

Health chiefs say it is now “business as usual” at the reopened Montrose Royal Infirmary.
This week saw the reopening of the hospital’s GP unit for admissions following the earlier restoration of maternity provision after the hospital’s temporary closure due to heating and water system issues.
A total of seven patients were transferred from Brechin Infirmary to the Montrose GP unit after being clinically assessed by their GP, with two more transferring from Ninewells.
“We would like to thank the domestic and estates staff for all of their hard work and reiterate our thanks to all staff and GPs in Brechin and Montrose for their support in ensuring patients and their families continued to receive the best care possible during the temporary closure,” said a spokesman.
The maternity unit was brought back into operation on June 21 and there have been four births in the unit this week.
