The number of complaints about gulls in Angus has shot up by a fifth.
Council officials say they have received nearly 160 complaints concerning gull activity in Angus towns since 2013, a 20% rise on the previous year.
In all, residents have filed 700 such complaints over the last five years. Of those complaints, reasons for concerns include noise, fouling and aggression.
The figures, revealed in a Freedom of Information request, have shown a surge in the number of potential attacks taking place across the county.
Last year, at least 15 complaints were raised concerning overly-aggressive birds.
Alexander Ritchie of Monifieth Community Council said the problem of hostile gulls in the area is frequently being raised as a community issue.
Other sources of complaints concern neighbours intentionally feeding gulls which some people argue is attracting the birds into Angus towns and creating a pest issue.
There have been more than 75 complaints since 2009 because of people feeding gulls.
In May, workers installed a number of signs surrounding Arbroath harbour urging visitors and residents to refrain from feeding gulls.
