A Carnoustie councillor has expressed his dismay that a Commonwealth Games map still shows a top Angus tourist attraction in the wrong place just hours before visitors descend on the area.
The shooting competitions at Barry Buddon start on Friday, but Barry Mill, a nearby attraction, is still in the wrong place in a Glasgow 2014 traffic management plan map for Carnoustie.
The matter was brought to the attention of Games organisers last week by The Courier and a pledge was made to update the map and put the historic category A listed watermill to the right place.
However, as of last night the map was still unchanged, stating the mill was on Balmachie Road, a couple of miles from its correct location on Mill Road.
Carnoustie councillor Brian Boyd called on organisers to rectify the error as quickly as possible.
He said: “It is most disappointing that the map still hasn’t been changed. The Commonwealth Games will reputably bring thousands of people into Angus and it is hoped that many of them will take the time to also take in some of the local attractions and patronise local businesses. A lot of people will be printing off this map before coming to the area.
“It does not help our hopes for a tourism boost for the area when the location of an attraction is not put in the correct place.”
Mr Boyd added that one of the streets on the map was also misnamed, with Links Parade being named as South Taymouth Street.
Barry Mill is a working mill which dates back to 1539.
It ceased operation in 1982 before being bought by the National Trust of Scotland and reopening in 1992.
Glasgow 2014 organisers did not respond to a request for a comment.
