An employee at an Angus takeaway was caught on camera when she hit an unwanted customer with a pizza shovel.
Dalgit Din “snapped” when a woman refused to leave the Spice of Life in Arbroath after being told she was banned.
The 64-year-old grabbed the shovel and swung for Deborah Williamson on December 27 last year, connecting with the woman’s face, before phoning the police.
But Ms Williamson’s boyfriend had captured much of the incident on his mobile phone, which was played at Forfar Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Din, of Arbroath Road in Dundee, admitted assaulting the woman at the Mayfield Terrace takeaway to her injury.
Fiscal depute Jim Eodonable said the woman sustained a “minor” injury with some bleeding following the attack.
Defending Din, solicitor Ian Flynn said the woman had been a nuisance in the shop before and was not welcome there.
“Following the blow, it took the police more than 15 minutes to get there and the aggravation continued,” he said.
“He (the partner) was charged with smashing the door down before the police attended.
“She’s not actually the complainer because neither she nor the boyfriend wanted anything to do with helping the police.”
Part of the video had already surfaced on Youtube, and additional footage was also played for Sheriff Gregor Murray.
During a section of unseen video, Din phoned the police and shouted “I’ve got a junkie in my shop” after the assault.
Mr Flynn added: “She is not at 64, I would suggest, likely to reoffend.
“There has been a distinct provocation from a much younger, much bigger woman.”
Sheriff Murray said: “I accept you were subject to considerable provocation but you were the one who snapped.
I’m going to give you six months to be of good behaviour and you can expect to be admonished if that’s the case.”
Sentence was deferred until January 29 and Din’s bail was continued.
