The top school chef in Angus narrowly missed out on being crowned national champion at a cook-off.
However, Wendy McIntosh (42) was highly commended for her main course dish Hook, Line and Sinker, which consists of fish fingers, potato wedges, minted pea puree and tomato sauce.
Wendy, who works at Burnside Primary School in Carnoustie, competed against four other chefs in the North East & Scotland School Chef of the Year competition.
Her performance was praised by a spokeswoman for the organisers Local Authority Caterers Association, who said: “Wendy’s dish was highly praised as being well executed, tasty and of a very high professional standard.”
The final took place in Gateshead and was won by Pamela Jamieson of Cumbrae Primary School in Millport, North Ayrshire.
