Angus could have a new gym development in place for community use within the next year.
Carnoustie’s Panmure Industrial Estate could see an office building change to a gym, after an application notice was lodged with Angus Council.
Agent Calum Owens, acting for Niall Swanson, said the aim is “to make this facility available to all in the community while specifically aiming at 12 to 16-year-olds, in conjunction with the community police officer.”
He adds: “We also aim to provide a healthy lifestyle opportunity to 16 to 60-year-olds with nutrition and fitness advice from the facility.”
There are 12 parking spaces and the applicant has indicated these would be in use for the gym.
A formal application decision on the development at Unit 9 would be expected by October 21.
The site was formerly used as office space for local housebuilder DJ Laing but has lain unused for some time after operations were moved to the new Laing House.
Access Environmental (Arbroath), the community council, Angus Council’s head of roads, and Scottish Water will be able to comment on the submission.
