‘It’s not on’ Brechin punter angry after bookie changes odds
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Rangers fan has the blues after finding himself at odds with a bookie in a row over his team’s fantastic season.
Offshore worker Billy Hamilton, from Brechin, was over the moon after thinking his £40 bet at 33-1 on Rangers going undefeated in the league had won him enough to see himself and wife Linda off to Bali.
The £1,360 windfall would have been a 50th birthday treat for Billy but, after placing the wager with LoganBet in the town last August, he was contacted by the firm to be told that a mistake had been made and the odds of 14-1 he should have been given would net him only £600.
Billy has the 33/1 odds on his betting slip. “It’s not on,” he said. “I laid the bet in good faith and put it on early so I would get good odds.”
LoganBet owner Bert Logan said Mr Hamilton was told within days that the odds were wrong.
