Construction on the new skatepark in Arbroath has entered its fifth week.
Visitors to the West Links site are beginning to get an impression of how the £202,000 project will look.
The work is being undertaken by Alex Butter Landscaping and is expected to be complete by late September.
Jillian Low, who has led the Arbroath Skatepark Project (ASP), said she was delighted with the progress.
She said: “We are over the moon that their efforts of the past four years have finally come to fruition, and are watching the build enthusiastically as it develops.
“Indeed, the contractors are inviting representatives of ASP on site on a regular basis to view and discuss progress, providing the group the opportunity to be involved right through to completion.”
October 11 has been set as the date for the official opening.
People of all ages are invited to come and join in the celebrations to try the new facility or watch skaters show off their skills.
“There will be plenty to see, as experienced groups of riders and skaters from across the country will be joining the local users, with a few ‘jams’going on throughout the day,” added Jillian.
“Other attractions will include live bands, a fun fair and inflatables. A marquee will be erected for stallholders who would like to participate in the event.
“The party is to keep going into the night, as members of ASP are in the process of organising a band night to continue in an indoor venue when the outdoor activities end for the day.”
Anyone interested in taking part in the opening day events, including stall hire, are asked to email asp.2010@hotmail.co.uk, or phone 07791 169313.
