The livelydebate continued as The Courier’s referendumbattlebus parkedupinEdzelland Brechin on Thursday.
Brian Beattie, 66, of Edzell, said: “It’s definitely a No vote for me. Alex Salmond wants to go down in history as the man who broke up the Union.
“We should be working together to get the country back on its feet he is just stirring a muddy puddle.”
Edzell couple George and Mary Nicoll said they would also be voting No.
Mr Nicoll, 76, said: “I’m not a fan of Alex Salmond he’s too big-headed.”
Mrs Nicoll, 69, said: “I don’t like Salmond either but it’s not simply about that I think it will be better for Scotland to remain in the Union. This is our grandchildren’s future we are playing with.”
DaveCoull,72,was among only three people who voted Yes in our ping-pong in Edzell and he stressed he’s not an SNP voter.
He said: “I think this issue is bigger than Alex Salmond or the SNP. I believe we will all be better off if Scotland becomes independent.”
Jack Nicoll, 75, of Brechin, was the first voter to abstain.
He said: “I’m undecided. Both sides are giving views but I’ve not been swayed either way.”
George Mitchell, 73, of Brechin, said he was voting yes. He believes Scotland would be able to provide the income to support an independent nation.
Mr Mitchell said New Zealand was of a similar size to Scotland and has been quite successful as an independent country.
“I think Scotland could emulate that,” he said.
