A group dedicated to spreading the fame of an Angus inventor may be in jeopardy.
Sir Robert Watson-Watt perfected radar and gave the RAF a second wind against the Luftwaffe in the Second World War.
However, people in his home town of Brechin felt the inventor deserved wider recognition and set up a charitable group to commemorate him with a statue.
The Watson-Watt Society of Brechin has issued an appeal for new blood to join to help ensure its future as a charitable organisation.
Secretary Brian Mitchell said: “It is now more than nine years since the society was set up and an appropriate memorial is in place but many of the original committee members feel it is time to stand down.
“It had been hoped to produce an interactive digital exhibit, based on the radar defence system, for use within the town and serve as another attraction but this is seriously under threat unless additional volunteers come forward.”
People are invited to attend a meeting on May 6 at 7pm at the Mechanics’ Institute.
