A new residential autism care facility has opened in Brechin.
Riverside in River Street will offer 24-hour residential support for three people on the autism spectrum in Angus.
Councillor Glennis Middleton, convener of the social work and health committee in Angus, said the facility is a “very welcome” new addition to specialist supported accommodation in Angus.
“It is such an inspiring and airy space that has been tailored to the specific needs of people with autism, which will greatly enhance their experience of supported living,” she said.
“The council is delighted to be part of the innovative partnership that has brought this much-needed facility to fruition.”
Mrs Middleton was joined at the service’s opening by other representatives from Angus Council and committee members and staff from Gowrie Care, who will manage the service.
Riverview is the result of a complete renovation of a five-bedroom house refurbished by Hillcrest Maintenance Service.
Residents will be moving into Riverview in the coming weeks and the staff team at the service are working towards to becoming accredited with the National Autistic Society.
