General Election 2015: SNP coasting to victory in Angus
ByRichard Watt
The SNP are on course to retain the Angus Westminster seat following a positive electoral turnout.
Ballots were still being counted as of 2am but sources believed the SNP’s Mike Weir had three votes for every two of the Conservatives’ Derek Wann, the next closest candidate.
Mr Weir said he was “confident” of victory.
And Labour candidate Gerard McMahon said his party had seen the election take on “an extra dimension” following the referendum, which has seen the party suffer a “squeeze” into third place.
The turnout was 67.67% of 65,792 possible voters, or 44,519.
